Welcome

What is the Flash Clearinghouse?

The LTC at UW-Whitewater received a UWS curricular redesign grant 2004-2005 to create a facility for exploring and developing Flash animations and simulations, with common action scripts and interactions that can be applied and shared among UW campuses.

We believe that Flash is a good choice of software for developing on-line learning objects because of its powerful interactive capability and its compatibility with the current web technology. However, we also find that the learning curve for Action Scripting and object oriented programming skills is steep. A viable solution is to develop some commonly used interaction prototypes that can be shared by all.

Mission statement

The FLASH Clearinghouse is a pilot project to pursue the capability of Macromedia Flash software in creating animations and simulations for instructional use. The learning objects created by the Flash Clearinghouse will serve as prototypes to be shared by all UWS campuses to further develop instructional material needing similar interactivity.
